Travel guide
Coron is the gateway to the Calamian Islands at the northern edge of Palawan, and it's a different flavor of paradise from El Nido. The water here is so clear it looks artificial — especially at Kayangan Lake, often called the cleanest lake in the Philippines — and the limestone islands are taller, sharper and more dramatic.
Coron is also a world-class wreck diving destination. A Japanese supply fleet was sunk here in WWII, and the wrecks now sit between 10 and 40 meters down, hosting schools of barracuda, batfish and lionfish. Even snorkelers can see the Lusong Gunboat and Skeleton Wreck from the surface.
Most travelers fly into Busuanga (USU) airport, transfer ~45 minutes to Coron town, and stay 3–4 nights to combine the Ultimate tour (lakes), Island Escapade (Malcapuya, Banana, Bulog Dos) and a reef-and-wrecks day.
